Wanda Brown

Wanda Nadine Brown, age 79, peacefully departed to her Heavenly Home after an extended illness on Sunday, August 26, 2018. Wanda was born in Oklahoma City to Walter Audie and Myrtle Elsie (Richardson) Brown on November 26, 1938. Wanda was the youngest of 4 siblings and was named by her only sister, Clara, who was 17 at the time of her birth. Wanda graduated from Del City High School in 1956 where she was an excellent student, she also played basketball as well as managed the girls basketball team. After High School she went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a Telephone Operator, she also worked at Casey Jones Tag Agency in Oklahoma City and then for 13 years at Kerr McGee Corporation as an insurance claims processor. When her children were still at home she enjoyed playing in a women’s basketball league and in bowling leagues with her husband Gary. Wanda dearly loved her grandchildren and great grand children. She was always very involved in the care and raising of her grandchildren and after she retired, was the care giver for them when they were young while their parents worked. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, Richard, Lee and Kenneth Brown and her sister Clara Blair. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Gary Brown, children Cheryl Anquoe, Darin Anquoe and Shana Truitt. Six grandchildren Jeremy Sutton, Devin and Damon Burden, Donovan and Darianna Small and Andi Parnacher. Four Great-Grandchildren, Jeremy “JJ” Sutton Jr., Sierra Sutton, Mason Sutton and Damon “D.J.” Burden Jr. She also has many loving nieces and nephews. Her nephew Reverend Paul David Brown Sr. was especially dear to her heart as he was always there to encourage her spiritually. He and his wife Susan currently serve as missionaries in Thailand A Memorial Service will be held on Friday evening August 31st, 7:00 PM at Glorieta Baptist Church, 7308 S.
