She enjoyed sewing and made most of her children’s clothing as they grew up.  Velma loved to garden and was always growing all sorts of things in her yard. She loved to teach her children and grandchildren how to grow fruits, vegetables and flowers.  Velma loved Roses and always had several rose bushes in her yard. Velma loved to play Bingo and was the best at it. She even made an appearance on the Price is Right and made it all the way to the Showcase Showdown. Velma loved to cook and try new recipes and she loved sharing this skill with her children and grandchildren.  Velma made her own beef jerky and salsa which was loved by anyone who had the opportunity to try it. Her beef jerky was a source of pride and joy for her as she made it for the love of pleasing people. Her jerky even made it all the way to Magadan, Russia.  Her Chicken and dumplings were the envy of many who tried their best to duplicate it, but according to her children, never could quite match the flavor. Most of all Velma loved her children and grandchildren and spending time with them meant more to her than anything in the world.  Velma loved Jesus with all of her heart and enjoyed speaking to her grandchildren about the Lord.
