Obituary

Joshua “Josh” Cody was born on September 8, 1980, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at Presbyterian Hospital to Bobby Cody Sr. and Debbie Bounds Cody. On February 5, 2026, he moved to Heaven, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and family.

Josh is survived by his mother, Debbie Bounds Wood of Newalla, who remained his closest friend throughout his life. He is also survived by his sisters, Sarah Wood of Edmond and her children, Emery, Kinsley, Brayden, Maverick, Lovey, Sawyer, and Everett; and LaNell Cody of Oklahoma City and her children, Aubrey and Lauren.

He is survived by his brothers, Bobby Jr., and his children, Bobby and Austin; Noah, Jacob, Michael, Zack, Solomon, and Daniel. Daniel and his wife, Morgan, have three children—Forest, Benny, and Ellie.

Josh also leaves behind his honorary family: Aunt Debbie Mitchell and brothers Jacob, Benji, Perry, Darrel, Amir, and David.

He is lovingly remembered by his children—Mia and her daughter, Josh and his son, Brianna and her two daughters, and Autumn. He is also survived by the children’s mother, Tammie; his dear friend, Misti; and his “second mother,” Sue.

Josh was born the second of ten children. From the beginning, he was different—an old soul with a tender heart. He was always a mama’s boy, and his mother was his best friend until the very end. He came into this world in his mother’s arms, and he left this world in her arms.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. For many, the days ahead will not be easy. Yet Josh made a personal decision to follow Christ on February 8, 2016, at Jerry McDonald’s Boys Home, in response to the call of Christ as Jonathan Revis preached. Because of his faith, we find comfort in knowing Josh is now with the Lord, and we hold onto the hope that we will see him again.

“He was my north, my south, my east, and my west.”
