Martha M Clem

December 28, 1929 — August 13, 2020

Martha Marie Clem (nee Klandrud) of Richardson, Texas. Beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Passed away August 13, 2020, after a rewarding and Happy 90 years. Surrounded by all her loving children and grandchildren into the arms of Jesus and a large family of loved ones, including her husband, Jerry and grandson James. Martha was born on December 28, 1929, in Galesville, Wisconsin to Arthur Joseph Klandrud and Cora Marie Klandrud (nee Whitmore). She came to Dallas Texas in the late 1940’s, where she worked at Sears and Roebuck, and Baylor Hospital on Gaston Ave. While working at Baylor Hospital, Martha met the love of her life Jerry. They married March 16, 1953. Martha and Jerry moved to Richardson Texas in 1960. Martha was very devoted to her faith and family. She was extremely gifted when it came to decorating, sewing, cooking, and Ice skating. Every Holiday celebration she made beautiful and elegant. Martha was a very active Cub and Girl Scout leader. She was the driving force behind Girl Scout troop 838, earning their way to Europe in 1975. From 1979 to 1980, she served as the Richardson Woman’s Club President. Later she was a part of the cookbook committee, for their award-winning Cookbook “THE TEXAS EXPERIENCE”. In the 1980’s, Martha’s love for Christmas led her to open the Clem’s Christmas Haus. She ran the business for 8 years. Martha was a member of the Heights Church of Richardson. Jerry and Martha enjoyed singing and traveling with the Senior Saints Choir, under their beloved Associate Worship Director, Angela Irby. She loved her Sunday school class and its members. Thru the Gideon organization, she enjoyed doing prison ministry. Martha was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jerry, parents, sisters, Germaine, and Mildred. Brothers, Joe, William, Edsel, Aron, and James. And grandson, James RW Dunlop. She is survived her sister Mary Cooksley of Colorado Springs CO. By children, Cynthia Marie Christensen (husband Kevin) of Mission Hills KS. Pamela Elizabeth Perry (husband David) of Bentonville AR, Rebecca Jane Dunlop (husband Woody) of Allen Tx. John Jerome Clem III (wife Jan) of Edmond Ok. Nancy Ligon Gilbert (Husband Bill) of Mesquite Tx. Grandchildren Amye Elizabeth Dunlop of Dallas Tx, John Jerome Clem IV (wife Linzi) of Edmond Ok, Christian Peter Christensen (wife Sara) of Kansas City Mo, Laura Elizabeth Perry of Bentonville AR, John Riese Wesley Dunlop of Dallas Tx, Ashley Denise Thomas (husband Matt) of Yukon Ok. Trevor Joseph Gilbert (wife Madisyn) of Mesquite Tx, Meghan Elizabeth Gilbert of Mesquite Tx. Great Grandchildren, Hallie Grace Clem, John Jerome Clem V and Brodie Michael Clem of Edmond Ok, Olivia Morgan Thomas and Dillion Jasper Thomas of Yukon Ok, Stanley James Christensen and Archie Peter Christensen of Kansas City MO, and Remington Nancy Gilbert of Mesquite Tx. 1 Corinthians 15: 55-57 “Where, O death is your victory? Where O death is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks to God! He gives us the victory thru our Lord Jesus Christ. A Memorial Service to honor Jerry, Martha, and John Clem will be held Thursday April 28, 2022, at 11:00 am At The Heights Church in Richardson.
