Marie Eloise Walderich

August 29, 1926 — June 17, 2017

Marie Eloise Walderich was born in Solomon KS on August 29, 1926 to Iva & Arthur White. Marie lived in Solomon/Gypsum Kansas in her childhood years before the family moved to Salina KS in 1938. She attended school in Salina, Kansas and graduated from Salina High School in 1944. After graduation from high school, Marie went to work at the Schilling Air Force Base in Salina. While working at the base, she met her future husband…Jay Clayton Walderich. They dated for a while and eventually married at the base chapel on October 11, 1945. (Earl probably knows how long they dated) After the war ended, they moved to Oklahoma City to set up housekeeping. Marie gave birth to two sons, Jay Carlton and Gary. Marie chose to be a homemaker and to raise her sons while her husband began a career in banking. Once both boys were in school, Marie decided it was time to go back to work. She worked in the insurance field for approximately 10 years before “retiring” and being a homemaker again. After retiring she and her husband enjoyed traveling and seeing the world. Marie was known as a gracious hostess who loved entertaining friends and family with dinner parties and get-togethers. She was an avid bridge player, active in Hospitality Club, and PEO. She also loved entertaining and spending time with their 5 grandchildren. Marie moved to Georgia in December 2008 following the passing of her husband of 63 years. She is preceded in death by her Husband - Jay Clayton Walderich, Mother - Iva White, father - Arthur White, brother – Derald White, sister – Jeanne Holwerda, and sister - Mavis White. Marie is also preceded in death by her son Jay Carlton Walderich. Marie is survived by her brother Earl White of Lindsborg KS, son Gary Walderich & wife Paula of Lawrenceville GA, 5 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 2 nieces and a host of friends.
