Kathleen Laura Gates, age 79, of Piedmont, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2026. She was born on September 17, 1946, in Ada, Oklahoma, to Bernard Moses and Patricia Claassen (Murillo).

Kathleen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Claude Dean Gates. Together, they shared many wonderful memories and enjoyed working side by side on paint and body work. Their life together was filled with love, laughter, and family.

Kathy was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was the loving mother of Karen Francka (Jack), Sharon Williams, Daryl Gates (Theresa), Kite Gates (Christy), and Patrick Gates. She is also survived by her siblings, Rudy Claassen, Jeff Claassen, and Denise Jenks (James).

Her grandchildren include Jacob Francka, Jason Francka, Zach Simmons, Laura Simmons, Kyndal Cottrell, Kadyn Gates, Cody Gates, Nick Gates, Tiya Frame, and Ray Simmons, along with numerous great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

Kathy cherished her family above all else and treasured the time she spent with them. She had a creative and adventurous spirit and enjoyed pottery, arts and crafts, fishing, sewing, and paint and body work. She also loved visiting the casino and enjoyed the excitement and fun of trying her luck.

Kathy will be remembered for the love she gave her family, the memories she created with those around her, and the special place she held in the hearts of everyone who knew her. Her love, laughter, and memories will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and friends.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 5th, 2026 at Light Your World Church at 4550 NW Expressway, Okarche, Oklahoma at 10am.
