Funeral Service Tuesday, October 24th, 2017 - 02:00 PM - Corbett Funeral & Cremation 807 W Wilshire Blvd - Oklahoma City, OK - 73116 Cemetery - Arlington Memory Gardens John Richard Jacobsen, 78, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, October 14, 2017. Born in Oklahoma City to John and Recia Jacobsen, he lived most of his life in Oklahoma City, Midwest City and Choctaw. John was owner of Kathy’s On Paseo, an Oklahoma City clothier, which was founded over 30 years ago as Kathy’s Kloset in Midwest City by John and his late wife, Kathleen. He and Kathy also founded the Kathy’s Market on Paseo Festival, which runs alongside the Paseo Art Festival each Memorial Day weekend. He graduated from Midwest City High School in 1956 and attended Eastern Oklahoma State College at Wilburton, OK on a basketball scholarship. In his early professional career, he worked in the insurance, chemical, and restaurant service and supply industries. He was an avid golfer all of his life. He loved to play and watch basketball and football and just about every other sport. His favorite place in the world to spend time was on the beach with his sweet wife and dear friends. John enjoyed a very close relationship with and is survived by his brother, Jim W. Jacobsen, and his wife Jane, of Oklahoma City. He was a loving and proud father to five different children over his lifetime. He is survived by his daughter Michelle Jacobsen Clark and her husband, Robert, of Sulphur, OK and his only grandchild, Hunter Paul, and his beloved partner, Kelsey Griswold, of Los Angeles, CA; his daughter Monica Jacobsen De fee, and her fiancé, Roy Davenport, of Norman, OK; his step-son Craig Travis, and his fiancé, Joe Coffin, of Oklahoma City, OK; and his step-son Mike Bryant, of Norman, OK. He was preceded in death by his step-son Chris Travis. He is also survived by loving cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. Special warmth and recognition goes to John’s brothers- and sisters-in-law, Craig and Patty Wise; Lowell and Lori Wise; Lloyd and Debbie Morrison and his many beloved nieces and nephews. The Jacobsen family would like to extend a deeply special thank you to the very Oklahoma City people who filled John’s life most intimately for the past two years. Mark Hatcher and Rusty Mohler kept near constant watch on John and helped with just about everything in his daily life. Gale Harms was his best buddy and frequent dinner companion. The two could be found together most week nights enjoying dinner, watching sports and having fun. Many heartfelt thanks go to the Kathy’s On Paseo team of Brenda Bird, Paula White and Jason Haslett. You will not find a better group of people anywhere. Kathy’s family, John’s in-laws, where extremely important to John and he loved them very much. And, finally, we can’t thank our family at the Paseo Grill enough for the many, many kindnesses they have shown to our family and for being such wonderful friends to John and Kathy. Serving as Pallbearers for John are Russell Mohler, Brent Stockwell, Ty Carter, David Donahoe, Johnny Walker and Hunter Paul. Services for John will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Corbett Funeral Home, 807 W. Wilshire Blvd., Oklahoma City. John’s dear cousin, Bill Norris, will officiate the service and provide a spiritual message. John will be laid to rest following the service at Arlington Memorial Gardens, 3400 N.
