Jim Alexander Hooks

August 24, 1964 — May 26, 2025

Jim Alexander Hooks, 60, of Luther, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 26, 2025, in Oklahoma City, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 24, 1964, in Norman, Oklahoma, to Jerald and Patricia Hooks. Jim brought warmth, humor, and genuine kindness to everyone he met. He truly had a knack for knowing exactly what to say to make you smile, and a good time was always guaranteed when Jim was around.

Jim grew up in Sayre, Oklahoma, attending Sayre Public Schools and earning his GED. It was there he developed a lifelong appreciation for the simple joys and open spaces of country living.

On May 27, 1982, Jim married Lisa Sellers at the First Baptist Church in Sayre. Together, they welcomed four children: Andrew Robert, Cody Joe, Caleb Alexander, and Ayzia Llana. His greatest joy came from his children, and he was a loving and supportive father who always encouraged them to be their authentic selves. Even after their marriage ended, Jim and Lisa remained good friends, a testament to his accepting nature and enduring spirit.

Jim found joy in the tangible world around him, whether it was nurturing a garden or diving into home improvement projects. He was incredibly handy and loved fixing up his country home. His passion for horticulture led him to TLC Nursery and Greenhouses in Oklahoma City, where he dedicated many years and was promoted to head grower. Later, Jim embraced a new calling, pursuing a nursing degree and earning his LPN license in 2009. He deeply enjoyed being a nurse, finding fulfillment in caring for others with his characteristic compassion.

During his recent illness, Jim was grateful for the loving care provided by his sister,

Clara, who was a source of comfort.Jim's legacy of laughter and love lives on through his cherished children and grandchildren: Andrew and Christine Hooks, and their children Drew, Evan, and Ryan, of Yukon; Cody Hooks, and his children Jaden, Tyler, and Liam, of the Edmond/Moore area; Caleb Hooks of Oklahoma City; and Ayzia Hooks of Edmond.

He is also survived by his two brothers, Jerald Hooks and his wife Janet; and Lonnie Lowry. Jim will be deeply missed by his three sisters, Clara Rogers, Misty Lowry Hoots and husband Gerry, and Debbie Harper and husband Ronnie, along with their families.

Jim was preceded in death by his mother Patricia Lowry, his father Jerald Hooks, his stepfather Lonnie Lowry, and two sisters, Audrey Jones and Susan Barnes.
