Obituary

Janet Ruth Charalampous, of Davis, Oklahoma, passed away on March 30, 2026, in Norman, Oklahoma, at the age of 87.

Janet was born Janet Ruth Meinders on October 14, 1938, to her parents, Hildred Bernard Meinders (McCants) and Wesley Herman Meinders. Janet is survived by her sons, Constantine Charalampous and his wife Cristal of Purcell, Oklahoma, and Phillip Charalampous and his wife Liz of Davis, Oklahoma, and their families; her sisters, Anne (Meinders) Heaton and her husband John of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Mary (Meinders) Johnson and her husband Floyd of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Dr. Don Wesley Meinders.

Janet obtained her undergraduate degree from Oklahoma State University and became a registered dietitian. She built a dietary consultant business, which she retired from at 82 years old. In following her father’s footsteps, she purchased a ranch in 1997 (Lightning Rod Ranch), where she raised cattle and renovated a Victorian home built in 1898, to become the elegant Pecan Valley Inn Bed & Breakfast. A stronger-willed woman you would not find. She did her duty as a fiercely loving mother, stayed true to herself, and most certainly made her family proud. While others might have coasted through life after obtaining the success she finally achieved, after overcoming many obstacles, our mother was always moving forward with a look of purpose and a smile on her face.

Janet will be laid to rest in the family cemetery.
