Gene Ervin Messick, 76, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, January 9, 2021, in Oklahoma City, OK. Mr. Messick was born on December 26, 1944 in Mountain Park, OK. to Emmajean and Homer Messick. He graduated from Mountain Park High School, attended Cameron Junior College and graduated from Central State University with a degree in accounting. He was a long time auditor for the State Treasurer’s office and was presently retired. He loved sports and was an outstanding basketball player in high school. He played golf and tennis most of his life and passed on the love of tennis to his children and grandchildren. He loved traveling, skiing, swimming, fishing and going to the lake whenever possible. Later in life he enjoyed watching football and basketball almost as much as Hallmark Movies and Romantic Comedies. He was a specialist in baseball card trading and, at one point, had over a million cards. He was preceded in death by parents Homer and Emmajean Messick; brother, Teddy Messick; and his former wife, Irene Kane Messick. Gene is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Galina; two daughters, Gena Messick Rainey and Amber Messick Duffy and husband John of Edmond, OK; step son, Denis Denisov and step-daughter Viktoria Varfolomeeva; sister, Rita Matthiesen and husband Jerry of Lawton; brother, Eddy Messick and wife Becky of Thompsons Station, TN; six grandchildren Peyton, Paige, Parker, Max, Stella and Emery, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. A private graveside service for family only will be held on Thursday, January 14, in Mountain Park Cemetery, Mountain Park, OK.
