David Thomas Knouse Sr.

June 13, 1938 — July 19, 2025

Edmond, Oklahoma

David Thomas Knouse Sr. was born to Rohr F. Knouse & Kathryn E. Knouse on 6/13/1938 in Camden, NJ. Along with six other siblings he grew up in Harrisburg, PA and later moved to California. His various careers included Richfield oil, and did a stent as a truck driver without actually having a CDL. He played Santa Claus at the Shawnee Mall for many years, bringing smiles to children everywhere. Finally, he worked for General Motors over 30 years without having the required high school diploma and retired from there in his early 50’s. He was a hard-working father, providing for his 7 children. He loved spending time with family and friends, going garage/estate sailing, buying clocks, clocks, and more clocks. Bringing home a new gently used car that he felt was a “good deal” was nothing out of the norm! He was crazy about a good donut and lots of cups of very strong coffee (from McDonald’s of course cause anywhere else was just too expensive, he would say)!

David Thomas Knouse Sr, 87, went to his heavenly home on Saturday July 19, 2025. He is survived by his wife Sharon Cahill-Knouse, his son Jeffery Cleator & wife Betty. Daughter Kathryn Mitchell & husband Randall. 18 grandchildren and way too many great grandkids to begin to count. He is also survived by his brother Stephen Knouse & wife Dolly. He is proceeded in death by his son David Knouse Jr. His daughters Cynthia Knouse, Elizabeth Folden, Rebecca Downey and Julie Vest.

David was on in a billion! He never met a stranger and could easily make friends with a goat or even a brick wall! Once he knew you, it didn’t take long for him to start his shenanigans. Oh yes, he was a master prankster! You definitely wanted him on your side if you had prank wars. He was greatly loved by all who knew him. He loved the Lord and was the biggest recruiter for the kingdom of God. One could not spend any time at all with David without him verifying the salvation of his/her soul. Heaven help you, if you said that you weren’t interested, cause he was like a hound dog on a fresh steak. He would ask again and again, pray over you daily and invite you to go to church with him each and every time he saw you. He was so kind and generous with those he loved and yet he was so very miserly when it came to buying for himself.

He was lovingly known as Dr. Dave, Dadeo, Pop, Gramps, Stubborn, Banana Jack, and the holy man. Every man wanted to be him and every woman wanted to be with him. He was greatly loved, and will be sincerely missed, but is forever dancing now with the creator of his soul!
