Antoinett Brown

May 10, 1940 — May 12, 2023

Antoinette was born May 10, 1940 in a small towncalled Whistler, Alabama to Della and Eudoris Bailey. She was the seventh of ten children. You could often find Antoinette regaling stories of growing up in a large family, many of which were filled with mischief and adventure.

Antoinette's parents instilled generosity, love and her relationship with Christ. Baptized at St. Joseph's Missionary Baptist Church, Antoinette would later share her deep love for Christ with her own family.

In 1960, Antoinette graduated from Mattie T. Blount High School where she then bravely packed up and headed to the Motor City – Detroit, Michigan.

While living in Michigan, Antoinette attended cosmetology school and worked at a local hair salon. During this time Antoinette met and fell in love with Claude Brown.

She and Claude married in 1961 and the newlyweds started a family soon after. The couple would go on to love and support
each other for 40 years. With a new job on the horizon for Claude, Antoinette and her husband moved their family to Oklahoma City in 1981.

Antoinette became a member of Greater Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church, where she supported her community through church
fundraisers and fellowship. Family and friends recall Antoinette as being quick-witted, hard working and a GREAT cook, which was an added bonus for the fundraisers.

Antoinette enjoyed simple pleasures including: scrabble, bingo, crossword puzzles, daytime television, morning coffee with her
son Larry and warm afternoons spent on the front porch. And if you wanted to brighten her day, candy and a few scratch offs
would do the trick.
