Annabel was born in a small house in Harewood, New Brunswick, Canada on November 22, 1940. She went to be with Jesus at the age of 85 on June 21, 2026 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
Anne’s all consuming passion throughout her life was family. She made many sacrifices for her children, working multiple jobs throughout her life to ensure her family had what they needed. She always made a point to have time available for every member of her family and if you look around, that’s a lot of people. Amazingly she remembered and acknowledged every family member’s birthday, anniversary or special occasion. She treasured friendships as well, talking to her Canadian friends of 80 years, Bernice and Jenny almost every day! She was a prolific shopper, often buying gifts for family but with her passing, we expect sales at Dollar General and WalMart to go down.
She lived a full life where she enjoyed knitting, reading, shopping, attending church, playing Skip-Bo, word searches and popsicles. She loved spending time on David and Sonia’s boat and playing with her grandkids and great-grandkids. She had a magic touch for some of the more challenging babies. She never complained that her birthday was often celebrated on Thanksgiving, but was thankful to spend her day with her ever-expanding family. She hand-made each grandchild and great-grandchild a personalized Christmas basket made out of plastic sewing canvas and filled them with candy and gifts, no matter how big the family grew. She was the center of the family for many decades. Many birthdays and holidays were held at her house. A very special memory for many of her grandchildren was a trip to Canada to share some of her heritage and favorite things with them.
Despite her age she was fairly adept at using technology and enjoyed face-timing everyone. And when she needed tech help, there was always a grandchild willing to walk her through the steps.
On July 5, 1960 she married Lee Brownell. Their marriage only lasted 9 years, but she was blessed with 4 wonderful children through it. On September 1, 1977 she married Ted Hunt, expanding her family to include 3 more children. Anne is survived by her children: David Brownell and wife Sonia, Paul Brownell and wife Barbara, Davina Lockhart and husband, Roger, Bruce Brownell, Tom Hunt, Michelle Noto and Mark Hunt. She is survived by 15 grandchildren, Jenny, Courtney, Austin, Brady, Tiffany, Kyla, Ashlynn, Reid, Aimee, Ren, Steven, Derek, Lukas, Lindsey & Camden. She also had 19 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Waldo & Daisy MacLeod, brother Waldo MacLeod Jr., daughter Denise Brownell, husbands Lee Brownell and Ted Hunt and grandson, Christopher Brownell.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day – and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8
