Anna Pearl Brown was born on July 3, 1929, in Fletcher, Oklahoma, as the fourth of nine children to Gaines and Pearl Walker. She was saved at the age of 11 in Fletcher. After graduating from Fletcher High School, Anna moved to Oklahoma City, where she worked at City National Bank. It was there she met Neale Brown, the love of her life, in 1949. They married in 1950 and enjoyed 66 wonderful years together, raising two beautiful daughters, Cathy and Terri.
In 1952, Anna and Neale joined the First Baptist Church of Oklahoma City. Anna was an active member, teaching Sunday School to five-year-olds for seven years and seventh graders for four years. She also volunteered on various church committees and in the church’s clothing room. Anna's dedication extended to her professional life as well, where she worked as a secretary at the Baptist Foundation until her retirement in 1994.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband Neale Brown, daughters Cathy Ratchford and Terri Kaufman, granddaughter Jade Ratchford, great-grandson Cross Davis, parents Gaines and Pearl Walker, and siblings and their spouses: Mary and James Wint, Dorothy and Bill Eichor, Joye and Bill Livingston, Dolores and Don Herrin, Toye and Jim Yoder, Roy Walker, and Gaines and Ruth Walker.
She is survived by her grandchildren: Amber Wood, Justice and Tom Davis, Riann Hobson, Jason and Shannon Ratchford; great-grandchildren: Deann, Joseph and Rowdy Newton, Addie and Tony Hernandez, Colton and Olivia Davis, and Jolee Ratchford; and great-great-grandchildren: Jackson Newton, and Lawrence Hernandez. She is also remembered by many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the First Baptist Church of Oklahoma City or the Baptist Children’s Home.
