William Culver

August 28, 1943 — May 28, 2020

Bill Culver left this earth peacefully on May 28, 2020, with his wife of 54 years, Kay Culver and niece Sandra McCurtain by his side. He was born in Altus, OK on August 28, 1943 to Dale and Gwen Culver of Blair, OK. In 1946, they moved to a farm south of Olustee, Oklahoma. Bill graduated from high school at Eldorado, OK in 1961, and graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1966 with a Bachelor of Architecture Degree. After apprenticeships with firms in Dallas and Oklahoma City, he joined, as an Associate Partner with Lower/Sprehe Firm, where, in the early 1970s, he designed the first glass 10 story building in Oklahoma City at 5100 N. Brookline. It is still as beautiful as it was when first built. At age 31, he co-founded the Badgett/Culver/Brandon Architectural Firm. Later he founded Culver & Associates, Inc. Bill’s projects included P.C. Cooper Middle School, Mid-America Technology Center, Boren Field House, Chapel and Bible Studies Building at Oklahoma Christian College and over 300 school buildings and many other projects. In December 2000 to 2015, Bill served as the Architectural Consultant and Director of Health Facilities Plan Review and Health Services for the Oklahoma Health Department. Bill was loved by all and he never missed an opportunity to help others in need. It could be a friend, family member or a person on the street, even if it was a risk. A true example of Jesus’ teaching. He had never-ending love and devotion for his wife Kay, daughter Terri Culver West, son Scott Culver, granddaughter Lanie West, grandsons Chandler West and wife Dyan, and London Redmon In his mind he could never do enough for his immediate family and extended family. He worked hard and long hours to provide for his family. His love for his parents, siblings, nieces and nephews was never doubted. Even though we know he is finally pain free, we as a family are grief-stricken and miss him so much. Our love for him was endless. We will never forget his love, kindness and consideration for everyone. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of William Culver please visit our Sympathy Store.
