Susan Stacy Archbald

January 19, 1950 — November 25, 2021

Susan Stacy Archbald (“Susie” or “Susu”) was born to John Raymond Stacy, MD and Barbara Baley Stacy on January 19, 1950 in Oklahoma City. She passed away on November 25, 2021 at age 71, after a 7-year battle with lung cancer. She was surrounded by family, at her beloved Lake Hiwassee home. Susan was preceded in death by her parents, John Raymond Stacy, MD and Barbara Baley Stacy (The “G1’s”), and her brothers William Kellogg Stacy and James Bradford Stacy. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Andy Archbald, her brother Thomas Wood Stacy, her sisters Mary Stacy Blackburn and Barbara Stacy Nebrig, her brother-in-law Baird Archbald, her sister-in-law Lory Schumm, and their loving spouses (The “G2’s”). Susu was the aunt to 37 nieces and nephews (The “G3’s” and “G4’s”), and each one swears they were her favorite. Susie’s “lake family” is as close as it gets to the real thing, and were unwaveringly by her side (with Gin and Tonics, extra lime) throughout her battle with cancer. Susan showed all who knew her that love has no limits, by loving her family more than anyone, and by loving others so much they felt like family. A lover of travel, Susie was a partner in Prime Time Travel for nearly 20 years, and went on to open several additional agencies throughout the Oklahoma City area including Arcadia Travel. She taught an estimated 649 kids how to waterski, pulled 13,468 tubers and skiers around the lake and never let the truth get in the way of a good story. Her first mate, best friend, fishing partner and love of her life, Andy, was by her side for 44 years and held her hand as she passed. Together they lived a life of adventure, travelling to over 35 countries. They loved hard and lived well. He promised to see her soon, on a boat somewhere tropical… In remembrance of Susan’s life, the family asks that any memorial tributes be made to the Lake Hiwassee Fireworks Fund or to the LUNGevity Foundation, changing outcomes for people with lung cancer through research.
