Robert William Joyce Sept 13, 1944, to July 8, 2021 Robert W. Joyce “Bob” was born in Yonkers, New York to James and Nan Harris Joyce. His first home was at 546 Kappock Street Bronx, NY. His family moved to 225 Highland Ave. in Sleepy Hollow New York in 1953 when Bob was 8 years old. Bob attended St Teresa’s Catholic School and then graduated from Sleepy Hollow High School in 1963. Bob attended Pace University in Westchester County and received his degree in Business Administration. In 1968 he was drafted by the US Army. He received a Bronze Star Metal for his service in Vietnam. His first job was with New York Central Railroad just like his father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He then worked for various container leasing companies in New York City and then started his own business called CIRNAV a container leasing company in the Graybar Building right above Grand Central Station. Bob was a lifelong railroad enthusiast. He collected train memorabilia from New York Central and Amtrak. He traveled all over the world and took thousands of photos that we still enjoy. He absolutely loved his family home in Sleepy Hollow NY. He lived there over 57 years right above the Philipse Manor Train Station. He loved flowers and was enormously proud of the gardens and trees on the property. He lived a very full life until Parkinson’s Disease took over his body. After he could no longer live alone, he moved to Largo, Florida so his brother Tom Joyce and sister-in-law Patty Joyce could care for him. In 2019 he moved to Edmond OK and was cared for by his nieces. He loved watching Amtrak videos on You Tube as well as documentaries about the history of New York Central Railroad. He was preceded in death by his father James Joyce (1975), his mother Nan Harris Joyce (1990), his only sister Margaret Joyce (1989), and his oldest brother James Joyce (2008). Bob is survived by his only living sibling Thomas Joyce and sister-in-law Patricia Joyce of Largo, Florida as well as his sister-in-law Mary Joyce of The Colony Texas. He has 10 nieces and nephews who he took on train trips and tours of NYC. He treated us all to the finest dining in NYC. He never missed sending gifts to all his nieces and nephews and their children. We all learned so much from Uncle Bob he knew so much history and shared his knowledge with all of us.
