Pamela Susan Worden

Pamela Susan Worden, 68, passed away at home on September 26, 2020 in Edmond, OK after spending her last days with her dear family and friends by her side. She was born in South Bend, Indiana on March 19, 1952 to Thomas Harris and Betty Harris. Pam, and her older sister Linda, grew up in California where their parents started churches in Ojai, Ventura, Santa Barbara and Camarillo. Pam graduated from Camarillo High School in 1970. She attended Pepperdine University and later graduated from Abilene Christian University in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work. Pam also earned a Medical Transcriber certificate from the International Business College in El Paso, Texas in 1980. Pam met her husband Dennis in El Paso, Texas and they were married on October 31, 1980. Together they lived in Laurel, Maryland; Brownsville, Texas; El Paso, Texas; Yukon, Oklahoma; and Edmond, Oklahoma. Pam and Dennis enjoyed over 39 years of marriage and raising their two daughters Susan and Michelle. Pam was a homemaker and loved spending time with her daughters and their friends. When her daughters got older, Pam worked as a lunch recess monitor and then as a Special Ed Teacher Assistant for Edmond Public Schools for eight years. In retirement, Pam enjoyed traveling with her husband Dennis. They went on many long trips together. Pam especially enjoyed train rides, going to National Parks, and going to Disneyland. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, attending church and Bible Studies at Memorial Road Church of Christ, nature, flowers, and going to basketball games. Pam was very excited to become Grandma Pam on June 16, 2019 when her daughter Michelle gave birth to her granddaughter Chara. Pam was preceded in death by her father Thomas and mother Betty as well as her brother-in-law Charles Lycan. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Dennis Worden; her sister, Linda Lycan; her two daughters and their husbands: Susan Hemphill and Matthew Hemphill; and Michelle Bates and Chris Bates. Pam is also survived by her granddaughter Chara Penelope Bates as well as three sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
