August 11, 1940 - August 8, 2020
Carroll Wayne Morgan “Cowboy” passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 8, 2020 surrounded by his family and friends. Cowboy was born on August 11, 1940 in Bean Station, Tennessee to William Dewey and Betty Ruth (Darnell) Morgan. After the family moved to the Cleveland, Ohio area, unfortunate circumstances resulted in Wayne and three younger siblings being relocated. Wayne spent the rest of his youth in the Ohio Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Orphans’ Home and Green Acres Orphans’ Home. He graduated from Oberlin High School and after one year of college joined the Marines. He was very proud to have been a Marine and serve his country. Through employment with General Motors he transferred to Oklahoma in 1980. Wayne loved horses and all things “cowboy,” which made his move to Oklahoma a bit of a dream come true. Although he didn’t fish (at least he never caught anything), he did love the outdoors: camping, hunting, horseback riding, gardening and landscaping. He loved people, had an animated and boisterous personality and always made people laugh. Once met, he was not easily forgotten. After retirement, he worked part-time at Little Joe’s Boots in OKC Stockyards, where he was able to share his passion and knowledge of western gear with customers. Wayne is survived by his loving wife Beth Duffy; his sons Scott Morgan; Michael Morgan (preceded in death in 2016); Brian Morgan (wife Katharine Morgan); Eric Morgan; grandchildren Sydney, Katarina, Haley, Austin, Taylor, and great-grandson Kash; step-children Eric Duffy, Lara Hill (husband David Hill); and step-grandson Avery. Due to COVID-19, a celebration of his life will be held at a later time. The family recommends sending memorial contributions to Coffee Creek Riding Center - Therapeutic Horsemanship, where Cowboy had volunteered at one time.
