Linda Kay Jennings

June 16, 1946 — November 9, 2014

Linda Kay Jennings, 68, died Sunday, November 9th, after an extended illness. Linda was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on June 16th, 1946, daughter of Jack and Janice Lee Romerman. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a B.A. in 1967 where she was also a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority, and a received her M.A.T. from Oklahoma City University in 1969. Shortly thereafter, she was employed by Heritage Hall Schools, where she taught honors courses in History, as well as other subjects. As a teacher, she received special recognition from the University of Kansas for A.P. Teachers, as well as being honored by the Kerr Foundation, who established a chair in her name. She left teaching in 1988 to continue operations at the family business after the passing of her parents in late 1987 and the spring of 1988. She continued to run the Oran Huston Lumber Company for nine more years, until being forced to stop operations in 1997, due in part to the devastation caused by the Oklahoma City Bombing. Linda later found her talents were especially useful as consultant for ARINC, where she received Division Recognition Awards in 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004. In 2006 she developed breast cancer and this greatly affected her health. She continued her positive outlook on life and was determined to be free of all cancer in 2009. Linda finished her career working for the OESC Appellate Division, from which she retired in 2013. Linda loved her Oklahoma Sooners, anything involving Walt Disney World, Christmas, and most importantly, her family. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her son, Chris Jennings and his wife Tara; son Jonathan Jennings and his wife Tamra; sister Jean Anne Lovell and her husband Jack; nieces Julie Lovell and Jennifer Lovell; nephew John Lovell; five grandchildren, Drew, Travis, Nate, Zachary and Sarah. Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Resurrection Free Methodist Church in Oklahoma City.
