Emanuel David Bertsch

d. May 14, 2015

October 27, 1952 – May 14, 2015 Emanuel David Bertsch, 62, was born to Gideon and Mabel Bertsch and was raised in Mitchell, South Dakota. He graduated from Mitchell High School and attended Dakota Wesleyan where he met the love of his life, Jeri Lynn. After working in sales throughout the Midwest, Emanuel and his family relocated to Enid, OK where Emanuel completed his teaching degree at Oklahoma State University. After finishing his degree, the proudest moment of his life occurred when Bethel Public Schools hired him to teach middle school science, where he would work for 25 years. Those who knew him would tell you Emanuel was highly intelligent, loving, just a little bit stubborn, frequently dressed head to toe in OSU orange, and so caring for his extended family at Bethel Public Schools. Despite his health concerns, his greatest joy was watching his grandchildren grow over the years. Emanuel is preceded in death by his mother, Mabel Bertsch. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jeri Bertsch, his Father Gideon Bertsch and Step-Mother Arlene Bertsch, his children Christy and Aaron Scifres, James and Janea Bertsch, Andrew and Crystal Bertsch, his brother Daryl Bertsch and wife Mary, his brother Delmar Bertsch and wife Pat, his sister-in-law Lori Benson and spouse Ken Borgendale, and his beloved grandchildren Madison, Emma, Joseph, Logan, Jacob, and Mia, and many other dear family members and friends. Emanuel’s life will be celebrated on Friday, May 22 at 10:30 am at the B.E. Cantrell Field house on the campus of Bethel Acres Public Schools in Bethel Acres, OK. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to honor Emanuel by contributing to the Emanuel Bertsch Memorial Fund for Bethel Public Schools. This fund has been created to expand the Science Department at Bethel as well as to assist his beloved co-workers with supplies necessary to enhance the education of the students he cared for so much. Contributions should be sent to Evans and Davis Attorneys, FBO Emanuel Bertsch Memorial Fund, 211 N. Broadway, Edmond, OK, 73034.
